    Meet your Adventure Coach

    • When: Every Wednesday from 2:00 pm–4:00 pm
    • Where: Adventure Center
    • What: Come meet your Adventure Coaches to learn more about the Adventure Center and what the Adventure Coaches have to offer. This informal meet and greet gives you the opportunity to hear what your coaches can suggest, schedule and deliver an Oregon Coast experience that meets all of your vacation cravings: from biking to fishing, hiking to kayaking; from the best beer, wine and food; and local attractions. We look forward to meeting you soon!

    Saturday Adventure Hike

    • When: Every Saturday at 1:00 pm
    • Where: Meet in Headlands Lobby at 12:45 pm
    • What: Every Saturday at 1:00 pm; join your adventure coach to explore our weekend group hike. The hike changes seasonally based on any site maintenance or view obstructions. If you want to know about the upcoming week's hike, just ask a Headlands staff member. Meet an adventure coach at 12:45 pm in the lobby with a departure time of 1:00 pm. This 1 hour hike is an easy, family and dog friendly hike that is just a short 5 minute drive from the lodge. Transportation is not provided so the guest will need to plan to drive their own vehicles to the trailhead of this hike.

    Evening Hike to Top of Cape Kiwanda

    • When: Every day from 5:30 pm–6:30 pm
    • Where: Meet at the Adventure Center at 5:15 pm
    • What: Every evening, join your adventure coach on a sunset hike up the famous Cape Kiwanda dune. Meet your Adventure Coach at the Adventure Center on the main lobby to depart for this breathtaking 1 hour hike. Make your own adventure and adjust your route according to your ability, all are welcome! With this being the tallest dune on the Oregon Coast, you're guaranteed an unbeatable view.

    Morning Hike to Top of Cape Kiwanda

    • When: Every day from 9:00 am–10:00 am
    • Where: Meet at the Adventure Center at 8:45 am
    • What: Every morning, join your adventure coach on a hike up the famous Cape Kiwanda dune. Meet your Adventure Coach at the Adventure Center on the main lobby for this breathtaking 1 hour hike. Make your own adventure and adjust your route according to your ability, all are welcome! With this being the tallest dune on the Oregon Coast, you're guaranteed an unbeatable view!

    Meet your Park Ranger

    • When: Saturday, April 28th from 9:00 am–10:00 am and Saturday, May 5th from 10:00 am–11:00 am
    • Where: Meet at the Adventure Center 15min before event
    • What: Join us for a talk with Oregon State Park Ranger, Travis Korbe, to learn about local history, plants and wildlife all right in our backyard. Depending on weather conditions, this may include an explorative hike around Cape Kiwanda or the Cape Kiwanda tidepools. This complimentary event is open to all ages and will vary with each of his visits.

    Kayaking on the Nestucca River

    • When: Every Tuesday and Saturday in May from 3:00 pm–5:00 pm
    • Where: Meet at the Adventure Center at 2:45 pm
    • What: Join your Adventure Coach on this 2 hour guided tour to explore beautiful wildlife along the scenic Nestucca River. All level of experiences welcome as your guides will help you become pros along the way. Adventure includes private guide, kayak, paddles, life jacket and a refreshing beverage upon return. For more details, ask an Adventure Coach at the Adventure Center. Reservations are required, ages 10 years and up. $55.00 per person.

    Cape Lookout Hike

    • When: Sunday, May 6th from 10:00 am–2:30 pm and Thursday, May 10th from 10:00 am–2:30 pm
    • Where: Meet at Headlands Adventure Center at 9:30am
    • What: Join us for this truly iconic hike on a peninsula with volcanic origins. The trail winds through lush old growth forest where ferns, salal, and other vegetation provide a dense understory. In various spots, the trail hugs a cliff which allows for jaw-dropping views of the coastline as far as the eye can see. Transportation is not provided so the guest will need to plan to drive their own vehicles to the trail head of Cape Lookout (approximate drive time is 30 mins). Sign up now with an Adventure Coach as space is limited, registration is required.

    Mt. Hebo Trail Walk

    • When: Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 am–12:30 pm and Saturday, May 26th from 10:00 am–12:30 pm
    • Where: Meet at Headlands Adventure Center at 9:45 am
    • What: Join your adventure coach on this guided interpretive trail walk on the summit of Mt. Hebo to learn about the history and geology of the Oregon Coast. This is one of the best and most easily accessible views in all of Oregon. It’s only a 40 minute drive from Headlands to the summit of this 3,157 ft. peak. From the top, you have a stunning 360° view of the coastline, the ocean beyond it, and even the snow-capped peaks of the Cascade Mountains over 150 miles away. Transportation is not provided so the guest will need to plan to drive their own vehicles to the top of Mt. Hebo (approximate drive time 40 mins).

    Tidepools Discovery Days

    • When: Saturday, May 19th from 9:30 am–12:30 pm
    • Where: Meet at Headlands Adventure Center at 9:45 am
    • What: Join the Central Coast Explore with nature series for this fun complimentary, family-friendly, interrupted tide pool exploration in beautiful Oceanside. This adventure is open to all ages and dog friendly! Come explore the tidepools with the most experienced guides on the Central Coast! Transportation is not provided so the guest will need to plan to drive their own vehicles to Oceanside (approximate drive time 35 mins). Contact an Adventure Coach now as space is limited, registration is required.

    • Where: Longitude meeting room on the main floor
    • What: Food educator and travel writer Jennifer Burns Bright joins us from Port Orford, Oregon, to chat about fresh, delicious Oregon seafood: what’s in season now, finding sustainable choices on the Oregon Coast, and what’s special about the historic Pacific City fishing fleet.

    Glass Floats On The Beach

    • Where: Seven miles of public beach from Roads End to Siletz Bay
    • What: Let the hunt begin! Each year from mid-October to Memorial Day, discover glass treasures in Lincoln City. The army of Float Fairies covertly hits seven miles of public beach hiding handcrafted glass floats along their way, from Roads End on the north to Siletz Bay on the south. You find it, you keep it!

    • What: Just north of the dory ramp on the beach at Cape Kiwanda, the captains of the dory fleet and their families will pause to remember those lost at sea, and say a prayer for the season ahead.

    • What: Join us for a weekend of fun and excitement to celebrate and raise money for our local animal shelter at Yappy Days. Each year there is a free street fair across the street from the beach compete with balloon animals, face painting, drawings, raffles, doggie vendors, and sometimes even adoptable puppies.

    Clover’s Day Festival

    • When: July 7, 2018
    • Where: Cloverdale, Oregon
    • What: The Clover’s Day Festival honors Cloverdale’s rural heritage and dairy industry. The 37th annual celebration kicks off with a pancake breakfast at Nestucca High School, and is followed by the Clover’s Day parade at 11 am, led by the prettiest cow in town. The parade is followed by a classic auto show, live music, and more.

    DORY DAYS WEEKEND

    • When: July 20 - 22, 2018
    • What: Join 59th annual Dory Days; a celebration of the local dory fishing culture unique to Pacific City. Festivities kick off with the Dory Days Parade that is scheduled to begin at 11 am. The parade starts at Bob Straub State Park and works it’s way into downtown Pacific City. Other events throughout the weekend includes live music, kids activities, fish fry and more. The Dorymen’s Association will operate a booth to answer questions from the public and a display of dory boats in the Cape parking.

    BLOWSION SURF SLAM

    • When: September 7 - 9, 2018
    • Where: Tierra Del Mar, Oregon
    • What: Gather around the shoreline in Tierra Del Mar, Oregon to see the world's greatest watercraft free-riders this September. This free event is in its 9th year and is an enjoyable event for all. Watch as jet skiers fly into the air doing flips and turns all while being filmed by some of the biggest TV stations. Over 100 professional, amateur, and rookies will hit the waves competing for prizes and points.
  • Kiwanda Longboard Classic

    CAPE KIWANDA LONGBOARD CLASSIC

    • When: September 14 - 16, 2018
    • What: It's time for the 20th Annual Cape Kiwanda Longboard Classic. Over 175 participants will ride the waves in heats throughout the weekend. Pull up a spot on the beach and watch different skill levels and ages compete for a chance to be crowned victorious. Sponsored by Moment Surf Co.

    Pelican Brewing Salmon Run

    • When: September 29, 2018
    • Where: Tillamook, Oregon
    • What: The second annual Pelican Brewing Salmon Run 5k, 10k and 15k will start and finish at Pelican Brewery & Tap Room. This fun, timed race will feature a scenic race course through picturesque Tillamook. Runners will enjoy a post-race bash at the brewery featuring brewery tours, live music and much more.

    Fall BREWER’S DINNER “FUTURE”

    • When: October 20, 2018
    • Where: Pelican Brewing Company - 33180 Cape Kiwanda Dr, Pacific City, OR 97135
    • What: The 2018 Brewers Dinner series will tell a story throughout the year and will each feature a six course gourmet meal paired with Pelican beers.  The cost is $75 per person and you must be 21 or older to attend.  Gratuity is not included in ticket price. This dinner will be a venture into future food trends, looking into what will be central to our diets as we navigate questions of sustainability.  We'll be exploring how culinary science and technology shape what is on our plates.
